Thanks to a R16 000 donation from NAB, the Hayani Support Project has avoided eviction, instead being able to put in a deposit to own their previously rented house.
“The Hayani Support Project has been living in a rented house for years, under threat of eviction. They’ve wanted to renovate for some time but held back in case the eviction became a reality,” says Justine Williams, national sales manager at NAB.
Hayani Support Project, based in Orange Grove, is a day care and residential care service for destitute women, children and orphans, providing outreach work in townships and other previously disadvantaged areas. ‘Hayani’ is a Tshivenda name meaning home. “Fortunately they were able to put in an offer on the house when it was placed on the market and NAB’s contribution went towards making a much needed deposit. They are able to service the bond repayments through monthly corporate donations.”
“Mary Mudau, who runs the home is the most phenomenal woman, a lifesaver to these kids,” says Williams. “We’re really pleased to have had the opportunity to help make their festive season a little bit brighter.”
