Gwen Watkins, long-standing member of the Southern African Freelancers’ Association (Safrea) formed a PR partnership in South Africa in September 1988, moving to Botswana in 2011. She offers the full gamut of PR services from media liaison, marketing positioning, branding, external and internal communication strategies and event planning to SADC countries. She is the only Convention Industry Council’s Certified Meeting Professional (CMP®) in Botswana and one of 38 in Southern Africa. She has addressed South African and international conferences and workshops on her craft and is a freelance writer, editor, proofreader and author. Her consultancy is committed to providing a professional, competent and measurable communications service to its clients.
Based on her academic lecturing career and extensive practical experience in PR and journalism, Gwen also offers practical, short courses in fields such as ‘Creating and implementing PR strategy for SMEs’, ‘Creating and managing practical & profitable events’, ‘Writing to internal & external stakeholders’, ‘Perfect PA events’ and others. Courses are divided into one-day modules that build to create an expertise, backed by in-depth manuals, workshop practicals and six-month follow up access. She has lectured in South Africa, Botswana, Namibia and Mauritius to corporate and government delegates. She is the author of ‘Conference & Events Management Textbook’ published in 2013.
