We SHOULD move on and realise that radio is still so powerful that it can be the ‘long lasting’ partner in the overall entertainment and information mix. But a partner and not the centre of attraction as previously. Radio needs consensus amongst its own on how to make the kids accept this role and not right off radio as ‘old and irrelevant’ when they aren’t even encouraged to listen to the wireless. This is exactly what is happening and if the passion to get into the profession wanes, all audio presentation will become banal and self serving. As I said at the conference – internet or radio, the medium is common, one way or the other: live sound.
    ● How it reaches your ears isn’t the issue.
    ● What reaches your ears is.

RAB’s job has never been harder.
