A KFM and CapeTalk radiothon reached the million rand mark in under four hours and by the end of the day-long fundraiser, the Primedia Broadcasting stations had brought in over R3-million in an amazing civic effort to bringing relief to those fighting raging fires that spread across the Cape Peninsula.
KFM and CapeTalk mobilised to raise the much needed funds through the radiothon. Primedia Cape Town came to a halt as staff are manned the phones to take calls for pledges. All funds raised will go to Volunteer Wildlife Fire Services and other organisations who are still at the forefront of fighting the blazes that razed huge swathes of the deep south are of Cape Town.
“The stations prides itself on being close to what the community’s needs are. At the moment there is an outcry for people to come together and do good. I am not surprised by the good Capetonians are doing,” said KFM and CapeTalk station manager, Colleen Louw.
About 4 000 hectares of land were affected and a total of 13 houses were evacuated. Anyone still wanting to make a pledge should call 021 446 4837
