Cheers! Here’s to fun and fundraising

AMASA’s fund raising activities include its annual golf day and industry party, attended by roughly 1 200 people. The annual party, while a cause for a celebration and time for hard working individuals to let their hair down, has a complementary purpose.AMASA asks every attending company to donate gifts in the form of children’s toys which are delivered to the Little Switzerland Children’s Home in time for Christmas each year.

Golf Day

This year’s annual AMASA Golf Day, themed ‘Superheroes’ was held at Parkview golf club on the 9th May.

“The annual AMASA Golf Day is our second biggest income generator after the annual party,” says Paul Clarke who heads this portfolio.

“It’s a long standing event on the advertising media social calendar, so much so that for the last two years the event, which was held at Parkview Golf Club in early May, has been over-subscribed well in advance.”

“Media owners and agency personnel alike see the golf day as an opportunity to catch up with friends and colleagues and to generally network in a fun and relaxed atmosphere while generating income for a worthy cause,” he says.

Thanks go to the following sponsors who made the golf day possible: Continental Outdoor, Toll Reach, Ramsay Media, Red Cherry, NAB, Vuma 103 FM, Strawberry Worx, Ad Outpost, SABC, Habari Media, Apurimac Media, RMS Media and Pennyblack.

Annual Party

The Great Gatsby themed annual party was one of the most successful events to date.

“We’re thrilled with the turnout of this year’s event and express our thanks to the close on 1200 people who attended, donated hundreds of toys for the kids at Little Switzerland and who made such a tremendous effort in their costumes,” says Dustine Tobler, deputy chairperson of AMASA and head of the party portfolio.

Touchpoint Media were awarded the Overall Best Dressed Team for the second consecutive year – they win a team champagne breakfast courtesy of Ad Outpost. The Best Dressed Woman was awarded a R2000 voucher from Spar. The Most Creative award went to Tracey Kirkman from UM who wins a two night stay at Sun City courtesy of Continental Outdoor.  The Best Character Award went to Neville Tietz from Mediacom who also won a two night stay at Sun City. The Best Dressed Man, Brad Hall from Apurimac Media, was awarded Nickleback tickets courtesy of 94.7 Highveld Stereo.

Carol Anne, director of the Little Switzerland Orphanage says, “Once again we cannot thank you all enough for your love and generosity…you have brought so much joy to so many little lives. Thank you from the bottom of our hearts.”

“A massive thank you is also extended to our fabulous sponsors, without whom the event wouldn’t be possible,” says Dustine.

Sponsors were Guerilla Marketing, OFM, Continental Outdoor, NAB, SABC Radio, Habari Media, Ad Outpost, Spar, Primedia Broadcasting and Brand IQ.
