Kasi Lyrics is a platform by Nine80 Digital Media and covers hip hop, Afro Pop, Motswako, rock , Afrikaans music, R&B, kwaito, house and reggae.
“We are quite excited about the initiative as we believe that it will add value to music fans from a knowledge and entertainment perspective. In instances where music lover struggled to access lyrics now they will be an available pool of local lyrics content readily available,” said founder Bruce Dube.
“We also believe that artists will benefit immensely from the initiative as this will give them more exposure from fans inside and outside South Africa. We would like to also believe that a more lyrically savvy audience would facilitate success to shows and concerts and we would like for artists to help us grow the platform by sending us their lyrics for publishing on the site.”
The platform has a simple search functionality that allow users to search its massive database for any local song lyrics by artist or by song title and even by song lyrics that they could have heard whilst tuning into a station as the song was fading.
