The annual SAGEA Graduate Recruitment Awards has named Media24 an employer of choice for the second year running. The awards, now in their fifth year, are decided by graduates who’ve had confirmed job offers from graduate employers. Media24 was named the overall winner in the media category. Other winners include Woolworths, Microsoft and Anglo American in the retail, IT and mining and resources categories respectively.
In a survey carried out by the South African Graduate Employers Association in April and May respondents were asked to name the one organisation they felt had the best graduate programme in their specific sector. The results of the survey are used by employers to review their graduate campaigns. “It’s fantastic to see such commitment to source and retain the very best talent coming through our universities,” SAGEA executive director Cathy Sims said. “Graduates play a vital role in employers’ recruitment strategies and the competition for high-calibre candidates remains as high as ever.”
Media24 HR head Shelagh Goodwin said the award was welcome recognition for the Media24 Academy and Talent teams’ efforts. “Media24 is constantly changing and innovating so our goal is to attract the brightest young minds. This award proves we’re on the right track.”
The results of the SAGEA survey showed the most important factors graduates considered when deciding which job offer to accept were the organisation’s training and development programmes, its overall reputation and long-term career prospects.
