Entries for the Standard Bank Sikuvile Journalism Awards have opened. The awards, says convener Print and Digital Media South Africa (PDMSA), are taking place amid a “media revolution” which will “contribute to major social changes and change the balance of power in society”.
PDMSA believes this revolution is changing the way in which we communicate with each other, and the awards need to be aligned with these changes, and that included the judging criteria.
Judges include Paula Fray (Convener Judge), David Wightman, Dinesh Balliah, Gus Silber, Henry Jeffreys, Irwin Manoim, Lizeka Mda, Mike Siluma, Tyrone August, Jubie Mayet, Mathatha Tsedu, Zubeida Jaffer, Pippa Green, Tim du Plessis, Tumi Makgabo and Neo Ntsoma.
All categories are open to newspaper print and online reporters. A maximum of three entries is allowed. Entrants are discouraged from submitting the same entry in multiple categories. In photographic features, a series of photographs (published as such) will count as one entry.
Closing date for entries is Wednesday 18 March 2015. Judging will take place on the 26- 27 March 2015. The Standard Bank Sikuvile Journalism Awards will be presented at a prize-giving function on 24 June 2015 18h00 for 18h30.
