If you wanted to influence a school full of kids with a marketing message, how would you go about it? Would you: a) speak to the headmaster? b) speak to the head boy? – or c) speak to the cool kids?

To unpack this month’s topic, Influencing the Influencers, Heavy Chef has invited Mike Sharman, CEO of Retroviral, and Alex van Tonder, celebrated author and integrated fashion copywriter for Woolworths to talk a Cape Town audience.

Sharman has worked on some of SA’s most ‘viral’ campaigns, including Nando’s Last Dictator, Douwe Egberts Yawn Vending Machine, Kreepy Krauly Wrangler, Converse Get Out Of The Garage, and 5Gum.

Von Tonder, one of SA’s best-known bloggers herself in the guise of Cape Town Girl, recently released her first novel This One Time to great acclaim. The book focuses on a social media influencer for whom life goes horribly wrong.

September’s Heavy Chef event is being held at World Wide Creative’s studio in Cape Town and seats will go fast, so be sure to book now.
