The annual Times Media Annual Recruitment Awards (AMARAs) announced South Africa’s top recruiters at an event held in Sandton on Saturday. The awards recognise the vital role of human resource management on business in South Africa.
“The AMARAs were introduced five years ago on the foundation of the 25 year old Sunday Times Careers awards to give talented individuals in the recruitment industry recognition for their ongoing commitment to finding the perfect match between employer and employee for companies across the board,” says Trevor Ormerod, general manager of group sales at Times Media.
In the quest to refine the award methodology this year, objective surveys were introduced to determine the Best Internal HR team and the Best Advertising agency. For the Best newsprint advert category, an independent panel of judges shortlisted the 65 adverts submitted to create a short list for 2014.
The Best Recruitment Advertising Agency was awarded to Strategy Recruitment Marketing. Human Communications won the Best Newsprint Creative Award in both the private and public sectors for its McCain and Armscor adverts. The award recognises unsung creativity and innovation in recruitment advertising.
Rand Water and SA Homeloans were awarded the Best Internal Recruitment Team in the public and private sectors, respectively. Heleen Lottering, MD of Ayanda Mbanga Communications received Times Media’s Publisher’s Award.
