Gwala presented Morning Talk on SAfm. He took over from Vuyo Mbuli as anchor of the show in April 2006. He is also known as the presenter of the current affairs programme Asikhulume!_LT_EM !_LT_/EMon SABC1.
Ram FM station manager Maysoun Odeh Gangat said Gwala had been appointed based on his qualifications and experience with the SABC “and specifically (Talk) Radio 702”.
“Add to it Xolani’s passion to come and work in the Middle East – a unique and great experience I believe.”
Ram FM is managed in association with Primedia Broadcasting, which owns stations such as Talk Radio 702 and 94.7 Highveld Stereo. Odeh Gangat said the station “has half a million listeners in Palestine and Israel”.
SABC spokesperson Kaizer Kganaygo said Gwala had worked for the public broadcaster as a freelancer. He said Ashraf Garda was standing in as the presenter of Morning Talk.
The SABC could not provide information on who would take over Asikhulume.
