The declining trend in Time Spent Listening (TSL) has continued. South African adults spent nine minutes less listening to the radio than they did last year (RAMS June 2007). This is especially prevalent in the Western Cape, KwaZulu-Natal, North West and Free State.R
According to the June 2008 RAMS, based on information from 18,711 radio diary keepers 16 years and older, some 22-million South Africans listen to the radio, which has increased significantly from last year’s measurement of over 21-million.
The listenership of community radio has also increased from 3.251-million (June 2007) to 3.301-million.
The average number of radio stations people listen to is 2.1 a week.
