Times Media Group’s advertising division is taking over sales for Business Day and the Financial Mail, GM of advertising revenue and strategic communications, Trevor Ormerod, says. Touted as a means of delivering “greater operational efficiencies to all divisions, the move follows the recent agreement by TMG to buy the 50% shares in BDFM held by Pearson in the UK.
“Times Media is committed to innovation and creating synergistical opportunities that deliver greater value to advertisers. Since we focus strongly on delivering diagnostic advertising solutions to our clients, the inclusion of prestigious titles like Business Day and Financial Mail into our portfolio significantly enhances Times Media’s strategic edge in the South African business market,” says Ormerod.
Times Media’s offices in Johannesburg, Durban and Cape Town will manage national advertising sales in these regions. Recruitment advertising (Business Day appointments and Financial Mail top jobs), International advertising, Public Sector advertising, Outside printed Inserts (OPI’s) and Legal Lineage will all be managed by Times Media.
While direct advertising sales will be managed by Times Media offices in Cape Town and Durban for those regions, BDFM will maintain the direct advertising sales function in Johannesburg. BDFM will also remain the first port of call for Investor Relations advertising, and Surveys and Insights, under the expertise of Eben Gewers, BDFM’s Head of sales.
