CapeNature, a public institution with the statutory responsibility for biodiversity conservation in the Western Cape, has urged tourists, from home and abroad, to visit the beautiful Rocherpan Nature Reserve, Bird Island and The Whale Trail.
And they have made sure you won’t get lost or be misinformed about what you are seeing by producing informative Z-CARDs for each of these exciting destinations. They can be obtained from the CapeNature office, at the reserves, and will also be distributed at trade shows and exhibitions.
The Z-CARDS have highlighted new features of the various destinations. “Visitors to Rocherpan Nature Reserve now have something special to enjoy – stylish and comfortable new eco-cabins. Visitors finally have the chance to spend the night and bookings are open,” says CapeNature’s marketing manager, Lucinda Witten.
Located about 25km north of Velddrif on the West Coast, Rocherpan Nature Reserve is best known for its wonderful variety of birds. The reserve is home to 183 species, with 70 different species of water birds. The prime feature is the large pan that attracts birds ranging from white pelicans to greater and lesser flamingos (all listed in the Red Data book as endangered species).
