The Right2Know Campaign has launched its 2014 Whistleblower Calendar that celebrates a whistleblower for every month of the year.
The civil society activist organisation says this calendar is dedicated to ordinary people who have spoken out against corruption, injustice and abuse of power across South Africa. R2K’s 2014 Whistleblower Calendar was printed with support from the Friedrich Ebert Stiftung and fesmedia Africa, and distributed with the Mail&Guardian. The calendar was designed and illustrated by Meghan Judge.
The calendar features people such as Kantha Padayachee who was suspended from KZN’s health department after she blew the whistle on a tender given to an alleged ANC donor. The workers of the Commercial, Stevedoring, Agricultural and Allied Workers Union (CSAAWU) fought off a ‘defamation’ order by Robertson’s Abattoir that silenced those who criticised illegal labour conditions; 40 were fired.
Calendars can be ordered directly from R2K – just make any donation, big or small, to cover postage costs. Click here to make the donation via GivenGain, and please be sure include your postal address in the “Message” box.
