Marklives.com has revealed the results of its poll asking ad agency executives to nominate who they believe are the industry’s most admired agencies, agency leaders and creatives in South Africa.
Ogilvy & Mather Cape Town emerged as the most-admired agency in the country, followed by Joe Public. Ogilvy & Mather Cape Town’s former MD, Gavin Levinsohn, was voted the most-admired agency leader of 2013, followed by Gareth Leck, MD of Joe Public, and John Dixon, group MD of Draftfcb. The most-admired creative leader in 2013 was Chris Gotz, chief creative officer of Ogilvy & Mather South Africa, followed by Justin Gomes, executive creative director at FoxP2. Ogilvy & Mather Cape Town was voted the most (digitally) integrated agency in SA, and Machine emerged as the one whom rival execs are keeping a watchful eye on.
“Our poll attempts to gauge the reactions of agency leaders to their peers and rivals. Nobody knows the industry better, and to see whom they admire offers great insight into the state of the industry and agency operations,” says MarkLives.com editor, Herman Manson.
This is the second year MarkLives.com has run the poll. “It’s gratifying to see the excitement our announcement of the poll results generates in the industry,” says Manson. “At the end of the day, nothing really matches recognition by your peers.”
