A gruesome and gutless zombie terrified Johannesburg residents last week. The scary creature was part of an activation by FOX International Channels to publicise the return to DStv Channel 125 of The Walking Dead season four after its mid-season hiatus.
Spitfire Films filmed the prank, designed to frighten unsuspecting victims. The company equipped the ‘zombie’ with a hidden camera so as to capture the reactions of frightened members of the public as it roamed the Johannesburg streets.
The zombie visited sites ranging from office parks, shopping centres and street corners across the city leaving a trail of fear and blood wherever he walked.
Fox International Channels, working with with South Africa’s multi-award winning advertising agency, Ireland/Davenport,s conceptualised the activation and developed it for a local audience. “We are extremely excited by the return of our biggest property and the activation served as a great accentuation for the brand,” said FOX Africa director; Thandi Davids.
“The engagement from people who were spooked really drove the message that zombies are here and no one’s safe,” she added.
