This week’s BIG move: SA brands can now track the performance of their TV advertising campaigns at no cost

Following its recent launch in the South African market, performance TV pioneer DCMN has announced that its attribution technology, DC Analytics  will now be available at no cost, allowing brands in South Africa to track the performance of their TV advertising campaigns.

General manager of DCMN South Africa, Irina Herf, said: “Our ultimate goal is to the be the Google Analytics of the TV world. With the anonymised data we gain from the campaigns running on the DC Analytics platform, we are also able to constantly improve the product and build on our portfolio of marketing automation and analytics technologies.”

Combining the latest in attribution technology with DCMN’s international, hands-on expertise in growth marketing and media buying, DC Analytics helps marketers track and optimise their TV campaigns with a focus on ROI. It works by correlating spot data from TV networks to traffic on a web or mobile presence, in order to measure the impact of media placements, right down to the individual spot level.

Until now, the technology has been used internally for DCMN clients, undergoing several changes and improvements since 2010. Now, DC Analytics is completely free to use and available to anyone, with all marketers able to sign up online to start tracking their TV campaigns.

Design Indaba Emerging Creatives Class of 2019 now open for applications

Creative vision and energy run through the veins of South Africa and every year Design Indaba showcases the country’s top young designers as part of its annual Emerging Creatives programme, which is supported by the Department of Arts and Culture.

A developmental platform, the Emerging Creatives was established in 2005 because of a strong belief in nurturing new creative talent and knocking down the barriers to entry for those just getting started. In the last 14 years, the programme has helped launch the careers of numerous celebrated and vibrant young designers such as Laduma Ngxokolo of leading fashion label MaXhosa by Laduma, Katherine-Mary Pichulik of accessories brand Pichulik, and renowned ceramicist Andile Dyalvane.

Applications for the Emerging Creatives Class of 2019 are now open and will close at midnight on 10 September 2018. Unestablished designers from any sector – architecture, fashion, illustration, furniture design, art, jewellery, film and the like – are encouraged to submit their work for consideration. Participants are selected by a curator based on the quality and originality of their portfolio.

Rapidly expanding media directory offers new opportunities for PR

Keeping media lists up to date is a major challenge in the PR industry, especially with the increasing number of publications, broadcast stations and online sites available today. To secure media coverage, PR teams need to target the right media titles and reach out to new media.

In response to this need, online media database Target Media Directory has added the details of over 500 publications, radio and TV stations, websites and blogs to its extensive database – this year alone.

“It’s very difficult for PR agencies to have up-to-date media lists because the media landscape is always changing,” explained Marina Kruger, media manager at Target Media Directory. “Online media directories are the new media lists. They’re constantly updated so they’re always current”.

Target Media Directory’s online media database contains in-depth information about each media title – including reach, audience, circulation, advertising rates and the topics and industries covered. The dedicated team behind the directory constantly updates the database, giving the PR industry access to the latest information about every media title.

Picfair launches commissioned photography network with 35 000 photographers in 130 countries

Fair photography platform Picfair has officially announced the addition of a commissioned photography network alongside its core image licensing marketplace, giving brands and agencies access to its growing community of over 35 000 photographers in 130 countries.

Drawing on the Picfair community’s global coverage, the network will help find on-the-ground photographers to realise any photographic brief – from simple snapshots to fully-fledged marketing campaigns.

“By opening our doors to every type of photographer, we’ve attracted an incredible range of talent from across the globe, from award-winning professionals to emerging Instagrammers” said Picfair founder & CEO Benji Lanyado. “They’ve uploaded over six million images to our marketplace for editorial and marketing use, but our customers have consistently requested access to the photographers themselves. We can now make that connection – to the huge number of our photographers with extensive assignment experience, and also to the incredibly-exciting new generation of photographers who are making their first steps into commercial photography through Picfair”.

The launch of Picfair’s commissioned photography network comes as part of a significant strategic expansion over the coming months.

PR Team shuts its doors

This year marks the 20th anniversary of The P.R Team and also the year the Cape Town-based company closed its doors.

“Thanks to some incredible clients, we’ve been honoured to represent and helped, in some small way, to make their dreams and projects come true, it really was an honour. And to the hundreds of journalists around the world, thank you for your support. With that said, it is time to wave you all goodbye and announce that The P.R Team has now closed its doors.”
