Herman Wasserman, Audrey Gadzekpo & Chris Paterson

Audrey Gadzekpo has more than 20 years of experience in teaching, research and advocacy on media, gender and governance, and more than 25 years practical experience as a journalist, working variously as a reporter, editor, contributor, columnist, talk show host, socio-political commentator and magazine publisher/editor.

Herman Wasserman is Professor of Media Studies and Director of the Centre for Film and Media Studies at the University of Cape Town, South Africa. He holds a doctorate from the University of Stellenbosch, South Africa, and worked as a journalist before starting an academic career.

Chris Paterson researches and teaches at the University of Leeds. His research has focussed on revealing the unseen processes which create international news, and on analysing communicative processes which disadvantage the global South. His book 'War Reporters Under Threat: the United States and Media Freedom' explored coercion and violence facing media workers from the United States.
