OHMSA elects new chair and deputy
OHMSA has announced that they have elected a new chairperson, deputy chairperson and executive committee at their Annual General Meeting. Taking over from Sydney Mangena of Comutanet, the newly elected chairperson is Lusanda Dube. Lusanda joined Zungu Investment Company (Zico) in 2012 as an executive director. Zico is the majority shareholder of Outdoor Network as well as a prominent shareholder in Provantage. She is also a director on the board of Outdoor Network.
Dube is a chartered accountant, and completed her articles at PriceWaterhouse Coopers. She holds a B Com degree and a Post-Graduate Diploma in accounting, both from the University of Cape Town. Prior to joining Zico, Dube worked for Sanlam Private Equity as well as in the Debt Structuring unit of Sanlam Capital Markets Limited.
Peter Lindström graduated in 1994 from Rhodes University with a B.Com Honours degree. He worked for a number of outdoor companies, including as client service director for Clear Channel, culminating in running the Clear Channel operation in Botswana.
His current position is Executive: Sales and Marketing for Primedia Outdoor. Lindström has tremendous passion for the OOH sector and has served on the OHMSA executive committee for a number of years.
Executive director, Sarel du Plessis, voiced his support for both Dube and Lindstrom and believes that these appointments will strengthen the association in furthering its primary goals. The other Exco members are Category A representatives: Billy Basson – Outdoor Network, Mark Castel –Adreach, Peter Lindström – POD, Sonnet Swanepoel – Ad Outpost. Category B representatives: Angelo Tandy – SP Media, Tony Lovegrove – AdRap. Category C representative: Renier Lombaard – Penny Black Outdoor.
AVATAR appoints head of content

Brad Jansen appointed Havas Sports & Entertainment global client director
Global brand engagement network, Havas Sports & Entertainment (HS&E) has announced the appointment of Brad Jansen, current managing director of Havas Sports & Entertainment South Africa, to the position of global client director based in Atlanta, Georgia, USA.
In this new role, Jansen will oversee the development of HS&E’s relationships with key global clients, including The Coca-Cola Company. With over 18 years of experience in the sales and marketing industry, and 10 years dedicated to the sports and entertainment sector, Brad comes armed with a wealth of experience, knowledge and immense passion, which was the driving force behind the success of HS&E South Africa.

HS&E South Africa recently announced the integration of local sports and entertainment company Maverick Experience Exhilarator into the existing South African team.

Moving Tactics SA pursues growth strategy with new appointments
In line with the growing success of Moving Tactics SA several new appointments have been made in their Cape Town office. These appointments bolster the already creative digital team and increase the administrative infrastructure ahead of new business related to additional technological offerings being introduced.
On the creative digital and content management side, Lauren Lyons has been appointed as digital traffic manager and Kim Lynch joins as content manager.
Lyons, born in Cape Town 23 years ago, studied Management Principles and also has a qualification in Business Management and Entrepreneurship.
Lynch, also born and bred in Cape Town 23 years ago, is passionate about content, which is a good thing, seeing as she’s responsible for creating, managing and flighting content for clients via X20 Media. She will be updating information, building schedules and playlists, loading artwork on various networks, adding music to radio networks and keeping track of maintenance issues. When not at work, Kim loves being outdoors and playing netball.
On the all important administration side, Leigh Lanham has been appointed as executive co-ordinator/PR assistant and will be responsible for assisting Chris Day and Kevin Bierman. She has just completed a degree in communication.

New Balance footwear, apparel sponsor of Comrades Marathon
Global athletic leader New Balance has announced it has officially signed the technical footwear and apparel multi-year sponsorship contract for the Comrades Marathon, the world’s greatest ultra marathon and one of South Africa’s premier sporting events.
The New Balance sponsorship commences on 1 July 2013 in good time for the 2014 Race, which takes place on the 1 June 2014 from Pietermaritzburg to the port of Durban, KwaZulu-Natal, South Africa.

Two new accounts for Red Carpet Concepts
Red Carpet Concepts (RCC) has announced they have won two new accounts, Fresh Produce Industry Panel Discussion and AGM (Annual General Meeting) as well as the official Egg Films Loeries Judges Wrap Party.
The Institute of Market Agents of South Africa will be hosting its annual conference this year, which is set to raise the bar on previous years. During the conference, market agents from across the country will be invited to partake in industry matters and current affairs. Twiga Communications wins Porcupine Press
Porcupine Press is an independent publisher that publishes work by writers of all genres. The founders of Porcupine Press, Gail and David Robbins, saw a distinct gap in the South African market for a publishing house to publish high-quality books that went against the frequent criticism of sub-standard products as a result of self-publishing endeavours. “Self-publishing is frequently frowned upon, we wanted to counteract this by publishing high-quality books and ensuring that they are distributed at the right outlets and via the relevant online channels internationally. Networx PR wins AfricaCom conference
Informa Telecoms & Media has re-appointed Networx PR to get the word out for the 2013 AfricaCom conference and exhibition taking place in Cape Town 12 – 14 November.
