Jacaranda 94.2 has moved swiftly to come to the rescue of those in need. This time, the station’s new breakfast host, Rian van Heerden, and his Complimentary Breakfast Team, are leading the charge to lend a hand to the victims of last week’s floods in Limpopo, Mpumalanga and North West.
“I’ve always been impressed at our ability together with listeners to reach out to communities in their hour of need. We’re doing everything in our power to help the communities affected so whatever help can be offered will be welcome, as those affected will appreciate every ounce. Stay tuned to Rian and the station so together we can make the load lighter,” says station manager, Kevin Fine.
Jacaranda 94.2 has a two million-listener support base Gauteng, Limpopo, Mpumalanga and North West to tap into. And those listeners have created a strong tradition of coming to the aid of those in need. In the wake of the severe floods last week in Limpopo and Mpumalanga – leaving many dead and injured, and countless more homeless, Jacaranda 94.2 is lending a much needed hand.
Van Heerden has implored all two million listeners to “open their hearts and wallets” to those in such desperate need.
Yesterday, after an interview with one of the ground-zero-residents and hearing first-hand how heartbreakingly dire the situation is in the affected areas, Van Heerden immediately issued an appeal to listeners to act and help all those affected.
In speaking to the Red Cross he made it clear to listeners that they should donate non-perishable foods, blankets, clothes, sleeping bags and bottled water. The Red Cross also offered to partner the station on the project.
Listeners are urged to drop off these items as soon as possible at Jacaranda 94.2’s studio in Samrand Avenue in Centurion, Jacaranda’s Polokwane office at Hampton Court in Pierre Street, Brendor Park in Polokwane or at Jacaranda’s Nelspruit office next to the Jacaranda studio in the Emnotweni Casino.
