You know you’re tough when your billboards managed to withstand 156mph (250 km/h) cyclone winds in Madagascar, setting safety and best practice standards for outdoor advertising companies on the large African island. Continental Outdoor Media’s Citilites have stood up to Cyclone Giovanna, whose severe weather conditions have killed eight people already.
“The cyclone pummeled the country’s eastern seaboard, wreaking havoc. Our competitors’ billboards caused damage on roads when they were destroyed by the winds. Before the cyclone hit, we removed the faces of all our billboards and were prescient with ensuring that our structures were built to best practice standards,” said Elisoa Rabemanolontsoa, Continental Outdoor’s GM in Madagascar.
The eye of the storm made landfall south of Tamatye on Friday, but Rabemanolontsoa is confident that Continental Outdoor Media’s billboards are no safety threat to people and infrastructure.
