Ogilvy Johannesburg has walked away with two highly coveted Pencil Awards and one In Book Award at the 50th Annual D&AD Awards ceremony held in London. They were one of three South African agencies to win at the highly respected Awards. Ogilvy Johannesburg is the second South African agency in the awards history to win more than one pencil.
Both Yellow Pencils were awarded for the “dynamic and innovative integrated campaigns” created for the popular DStv music channel, MK – securing wins in the channel branding and identity category as well as in the multi platform branding and promotions category. In addition, the In Book Award was received for DStv’s Kyknet’s ‘Nothing’s put on’ campaign securing it a place in the photography for advertising category.
“Our mission is always to deliver for our clients relevant and compelling creative work that solves business challenges, and this campaign is a manifestation of that mission. To be acknowledged for a campaign with such deep local insight on the global stage is so rewarding,” says Fran Luckin, executive creative director of Ogilvy Johannesburg.
MK marketing manager, Haddad Viljoen, says the MK campaign “showcases Ogilvy’s ability to adjust to this market, creating a campaign that is vast in its execution, both creatively and logistically. The fact that all of this was done in-house provided focus and coherence that ultimately contributed to the success of the campaign”.
