Future vision… to online and beyond

AMASA’s mandate is to focus on the education of people with an interest in the media, marketing and advertising industry, with a view to improving knowledge and skills in media decision making techniques and their use. We will continue to manage the AAA Media Management Course through the AAA, as well as bring you an updated four-day workshop. Key to our focus will be the on-going fundraising fun events that will continue to support the AMASA Learnership Programme, which provides an injection of new talent and skills into the industry.

The key change going forward will be our focus on e-learning. We will run e-courses through our revamped website in the form of online modules which will allow students to complete each module at their own speed. These modules will be customised to suit media owners, agencies and marketers. Further to that we plan to digitise the AMASA textbook, which will encourage regular updates and changes. Another innovation will be the introduction of a blog link, which will allow for controlled blogging and discussions around industry issues!

A key challenge the industry faces is the lack of new talent. We will produce an online video and prospectus that is to be presented to tertiary institutions and schools promoting media as a career. The industry is made up of many diverse specialised fields in the agency, media owner and marketing environment that school and university leavers need to know about! Our industry is fun, frenetic and fulfilling! Let’s promote it!

The AMASA Awards evening

The Roger Garlick and newly introduced student Ignition Awards that recognise innovative and collaborative media campaigns will be hosted by AMASA in March/April as a black tie gala event to celebrate the industry, AMASA’s 40 year anniversary, the AMASA alumni (such as Chris Brewer, Virginia Hollis, Gordon Muller, Karen Bailey etc) and present the RGA and Ignition Awards.

Monthly Forums evolve into a new platform for networking

The monthly forums have yielded varying levels of support, always dependent on the subject matter. To combat this we will be holding quarterly paid-for events with international or local speakers with topics that will appeal to the industry.

… and a great, revamped, fully functional website!

Our new website, currently being developed will deliver:

i.    News/utility info/member links

ii.   Content

iii.  Learning/e-learning

Phase two will be the development of online ticket purchasing and workshop/event registration functionality.

We’re going to have a busy 2014 and we want you to be a part of it!
