Soccer Laduma, South Africa’s favourite football publication, reached 500 000 Facebook ‘Likes’ this week. The Soccer Laduma Facebook page serves up the latest football news and hot topics all day long, and allows the audience to interact with the people behind the publication.
“Facebook continues to be a really important place for us to have direct conversation with our fans. Over the years, we’ve continued to experiment within the Facebook space and listen to what the audience wants,” says Gail Odgers, Soccer Laduma’s head of social media. “We utilise this important platform to interact with them and discuss our shared passion for football. The result is an engaged community that is consuming and sharing the Soccer Laduma experience beyond the printed publication.”
The Facebook platform is a key component in Soccer Laduma’s cross-media portfolio, which also includes Twitter, Google+, WeChat, Instagram and YouTube. Facebook fans particularly love the brand’s new imagery and the deep user engagement helped the brand nearly double its fan base since January. Soccerladuma.co.za also achieved a record 1.87 million unique browsers in August equating to 96% year-on-year growth with 12 percent of the unique browsers coming from Facebook referrals.
