E! Entertainment Television announces new local Production The Search: E! Host South Africa
E! Entertainment Television (DStv channel 124) has announced its new, locally produced series The Search: E! Host South Africa. Expected to launch on the channel in February 2017, the six-part series will follow eight aspiring presenters as they compete to become the first-ever host for the channel in South Africa, and next member of the E! family.

Host South Africa about to begin production, we are delighted to be showcasing local talent,”says Colin McLeod, managing director, UK and emerging markets, NBCUniversal International Networks. “It’s a once-in-a-lifetime chance for up-and-coming talent from across the country to pursue this unique opportunity to become a pop culture ambassador on E! in Africa.”
This new reality competition will follow the contestants as they live together in a luxurious mansion, showcasing their talent in a series of weekly challenges. Each week, one of the contestants will be eliminated by a panel of judges until only the most accomplished and tenacious contender – whose finger is firmly on the pulse of pop culture – is declared the winner. The winner will see their star-studded dreams come true, as they become the first-ever E! Host South Africa covering future events on behalf of the channel.
Sentech gives back to the community
On Friday, the CEO of Sentech, Mlamli Booi, will hand over a cheque worth R230 000.00 to the Orlando Children’s Home. These funds were raised during the Sentech Chairman’s Charity Golf Day in September.
“As SENTECH we believe that giving back to our communities is one of the ways to address the socio-economic imbalances that permeates our society. By being proactive and seeking ways to reach out to those less privileged in our communities, we become part of the solution,” Sentech said in a statement.

Scottish Leader takes to the Jozi sky
Scotch whisky brand, Scottish Leader, recently hosted an unforgettable #LeaderintheSky whisky tasting experience in the Johannesburg sky.
The culmination of its national #NewPerspective campaign that ran from 1 August to 30 September, the event was staged to reward and celebrate the winners of the promotional drive creating awareness of Scottish Leader’s blended Scotch whiskies, including
Guests were securely lifted 50 meters into the sky by crane for a very special tasting of Scottish Leader Signature, as well as its soon to be launched 12-year-old flagship blend, a best-seller in Taiwan. The whiskies were matched with a selection of tasty canapés prepared by the talented chefs of Culture Kitchen Food Club, with South Africa’s ‘Mr Whisky’, Pierre Meintjes, leading the tasting.
The experience was also attended by ‘Famestagrammers’ Ofentse Mwase (@unclescrooch) and Levon Lock (@levonlock), who formed an integral part of the Scottish Leader’s digital campaign over the promotional period.
The night concluded with a very special private performance by musician and producer Tresor. His VII album won the 2016 South African Music Awards (SAMA) title for best pop album.
Sandoz invites young entrepreneurs to enter Sandoz HACk, a global competition to help solve healthcare access challenges
Sandoz, the Novartis generic and biosimilar pharmaceutical division, announced the launch of Sandoz HACk – Healthcare Access Challenge – a global competition to generate innovative ideas and solutions to help tackle some of the world’s most pressing healthcare access problems. The competition is open for entries until 30 November 30.
Mobile technology is radically altering how care is delivered and received worldwide and the influence of mobile in healthcare is likely to continue evolving in the future. In its inaugural year, Sandoz HACk encourages today’s generation of entrepreneurs and creative thinkers to enter ideas that harness mobile health technologies – M-Health – to help solve relevant local healthcare access challenges.
Sandoz HACk is open for entries from 18-35 year olds around the world. Following a robust judging process, the six finalist entries will be published on OpenIDEO – a global community of leading organizations and individuals working together to design solutions to the world’s biggest challenges. Entrants’ ideas will be refined and evolved in partnership with this online community before being presented to a panel of judges. Three winners will be chosen and awarded seed funding and mentorship to help bring their ideas to life.

Danone launches DANUP, a ‘hunger filler’ for South African men
