Friday Briefs: New line-up at Capricorn FM, Nederburg TVC a global hit, #ToyotaLive streams, Lira back on Fox Life

Capricorn FM leads Limpopo’s ‘progressive radio revolution’ from the front. Nederburg TVC a global top five, says AdForum. Toyota launches social media live-streaming campaign #ToyotaLive. Lira will be back on Fox Life for a second season of Lira: Dreamchaser.

Capricorn FM leads Limpopo’s ‘progressive radio revolution’ from the front

Limpopo’s only commercial radio station, Capricorn FM, is in its tenth year and has announced a series of changes to its offering. The station will see the return of the chart show, the introduction of the four hours’ time channel across most weekend programming, new show names as well as new presenters.

“With minimal adjustment to the weekday primetime slots, Complexion and Mpho remain solid on the Capricorn FM Breakfast, followed by Hlekani Shikwambana whose mid-morning show name changes to The Tailored Experience. The Midday show will however, get a ray of sunshine with Dee Nkomo and Itumeleng Banda who both move from their respective Midnight shows to bring you the Urban Lunch Experience,” the station announced.

Maxwell and Ms Kulie will still drive listeners home with Capricorn FM Drive and the only talk show on the station, Capricorn FM Talk with Thabiso Kotane remains in its original time slot. Saturday Breakfast will be served sizzling hot by Kea M who moves from anchoring sports and hosting Saturday afternoon show respectively to team up with another new name and Mpumalanga’s talented Nhlamulo Makhubele between 06h00 and 10h00.

The much anticipated chart show, Urban Hot 40 will be hosted by none other than Tholi B, the station’s manager, every Saturday between 10h00 and 14h00.

After many guesses and hints, the station welcomes the renowned television and radio broadcaster, Hulisani Ravele, a proud daughter of the province. She will host The Saturday Flex alongside the funny and witty Daniel Teras, who leaves sports broadcasting completely, every Saturdays from 14h00 until 18h00.

Nederburg TVC a global top five, says AdForum

Creative industry network, AdForum, recently featured Nederburg’s global television commercial as one of its top five alcohol TV advertisements in the world. The selection panel included AdForum’s creative teams in the USA and France.

The commercial shows a dream-like sequence conjured by that first sip of Nederburg, as it triggers memories, reveries and flights of fancy, demonstrating delightful experiences offered by every bottle of Nederburg.  Swopping the cerebral for the sensory, it encourages viewers to discover more about Nederburg.

“It is a great achievement for Nederburg’s commercial to have been recognised by global creative industry leaders. Our creative agency, TBWA, together with accomplished director Bruno Bossi, delivered exceptional work in producing an impactful piece of creative to stand out in the wine category that’s known for much parity. We are very proud of this richly visual and whimsical creative expression that seeks to ignite curiosity,” says Dè-Mari Shaw, Nederburg’s global marketing spokesperson.

Toyota launches social media live-streaming campaign #ToyotaLive

If you want to connect with Millennials, then you’ve got to speak their language…and that language is music. So, that’s what Toyota is doing with its ground-breaking online campaign to communicate with men and women in the 18 to 35 age group, using Toyota’s funky new lifestyle models, the C-HR and the RAV4, as a high-octane backdrop.

#ToyotaLive kicked off on March 23 across all major social media platforms, including Facebook, Twitter and YouTube, with a live-streamed 15-minute music show. Live-streaming across the social media platforms simultaneously is a South African first.

The campaign will run over ten consecutive weeks, in 10 to 15-minute episodes, featuring ten of the country’s top musicians – but with a twist. The well-known musos will team up with up-and-coming acts. The household name artists will perform one of their own hits and perform a collaboration with the break-out new artist.

Conceived by FCB Joburg, the shows will be hosted by the livewire Fred Merc, and will feature a veritable Who’s Who of the local music industry, including Nasty C, Kwesta, Locnville, Fifi Cooper and Nakhane Toure. Newcomers, including Telleman, Mque, TLT and Chad da Don, are expected to seize this great opportunity.

Lira will be back on Fox Life for a second season of Lira: Dreamchaser

Lira Dreamchaser 2: Born Free, is a journey where we follow in the footsteps of the South African songstress as she develops her latest album, “Born Free”. We get an insight into the production, song writing process and the touring that comes with being one of Africa’s biggest stars. Lira opens her heart out to us, and unpacks each song of the album. From her inspirations, to the very moment a song is born.

All raw and uncut, this is a rare glimpse into the daily life of a musicians and how tremendously stressful it can be to launch a new album. “Defining freedom for myself was the reason behind pursuing this body of work. I am beyond excited to share this story with viewers – the joys, the challenges, the effort and experiences and ultimately chasing the dream!” said Lira.

The Premier and second episode will broadcast on Fox Life (DSTV 126) on Wednesday 3 May 2017, from 20h10 (CAT)
