Audit Bureau of Circulations (ABC) general manager Charles Beiles said he was awaiting a response from Media24 following the completion of the audit in December.R
“We are waiting for Media24 and hope to have their response before the end of this week. Then we will call an ABC board meeting next week,” Beiles told The Media magazine.
The ABC ordered an independent audit of all Media24 magazines after discovering discrepancies in circulation figures in 12 of its magazines last year. Since then, two employees have been dismissed in connection with the debacle and two of the titles involved, InStyle and Wisden Cricketer, have been closed down.
The ABC has suspended the following Media24 titles: True Love Babe, Lééf, True Love, True Love Bride, Fairlady, SARIE, Men’s Health, Sports Illustrated, Kick Off and Shape.R
Media24 last year conducted its own audit – separate from the independent ABC audit – and assured advertisers that these 12 titles were the only magazines that had bumped up their circulation figures.
