The majority of South Africa’ youth follow populist cultures but there are those who stand out, are grounded and comfortable in non-mainstream cultures and art-forms; the ones who choose the route less travelled. These youth are not weird; they are independent and ooze a sense of free thinking and confidence, they are 100% youth.
Over four weeks every Sunday at 6.30pm starting on 11 August 2013, SABC1 viewers can watch colourful storytelling that promises to spark discussions in Mzansi.
“100% Youth is a factual series that profiles four young South Africans involved in non-mainstream art-forms. These young people are confident, talented and have conviction in their choice of the less chosen, less popular art-forms. They don’t crump, beatbox or twerk, but they are just as captivating and relevant,” says Sane Zondi, assistant commission editor at SABC Education.
