When we look back on Radio Pulpit’s 35 years of existence, we see progress as well as challenges, but with each challenge we also saw God’s provision. We see changes in technology, the economy, the media and our country, but through it all Radio Pulpit is still standing.
The establishing of the Pulpit Media Group (PMG) created a platform for various units to join Radio Pulpit. Radio Cape Pulpit, the youth initiative the I AM Youth Movement, CNW Media and UCB Africa all form part of the Pulpit Media family, each with its own unique role in the ministry of the Gospel.
I quote the English poet, John Donne, when he said: ‘no man is an island’. I believe in an even greater connection than this between people, because God created us as one human family in His image.
As in any family, we may look and sound different from each other, and have opposing points of view, but we are bound by the same DNA (ethos) of ‘family’. That means togetherness, caring about and for one another, and working to keep and grow our Father’s family to reflect His image. I find this ethos particularly strong in our Pulpit Media family, of which our listeners are loyal, loving, and participating members. Their financial and spiritual involvement tell me this, because through this they are caring and working for the well being of others, by reaching out to them through radio to introduce or keep them close to God.
You may never be thanked by those whose lives benefit from your influence, but on their behalf I can express the appreciation you deserve. And on behalf of all of us at the Pulpit Media Group, thank you for being‘family’.
Shalom,
Dr Roelf Petersen
