In a conversation with Stephen Grootes on this morning’s 702 show, Xolani Gwala revealed that he has been diagnosed with advanced colon cancer.
An operation has already been done to take out a tumour and Gwala will begin chemotherapy next week.
During the chat with Grootes, Gwala said, “It is going to be a very long fight partly because it was advanced, a difficult fight but a fight I am ready for.”
A statement released by Primedia Broadcasting from Gwala and his family read: “Earlier this month, I promised that I would update you on my medical condition. I am sorry to have to tell my listeners and colleagues that I have been diagnosed with colon cancer.
“I am receiving excellent care from my doctors and medical team, and am very grateful for the love and support of my family, colleagues and friends. I also want to thank everyone for their prayers and thoughts. I thank you for continuing to respect my family’s privacy in what is a very difficult time for us all.”
Messages of support have poured in for Gwala. Here are some of them:
The Media Online wishes Gwala all the best in his fight.
