Radio 2000 and fitness expert Ronald Abvajee will conduct a self-defence class to raise awareness about gender-based violence during the 16 days of activism against gender violence. The class will be presented to over 1000 children at the Rabasuthu Combined School in Diepsloot on 28 November 2014. The aim of this class is to empower women and children to fight back against the scourge of violence and become victors not victims.
Abvajee, a fifth degree black belt in karate and fitness expert, wants to empower women to fight back against violence. The class offers an all-in-one solution for self-defence. He provides a fun and energetic course specialising in self-defence, non-lethal weapons training and fitness. The class is geared towards females aged seven years and older.
“The is nothing like feeling helpless in a bad situation when a woman or a child’s life is under attack. Radio 2000 is very proud and excited about this initiative we are doing with our resident regular health and fitness expert Ronald Abvajee,” said Radio 2000 station manager, Carlito Sheikh.
“The lessons and defence tips will go to encouraging a culture of awareness and confidence amongst the youth in Diepsloot on Friday the 28 November. The MTN Radio Award winning, Ernest Pillay, the Drive Time Experience Show host of the Radio 2000 will be on site doing reports live on the Collective between 9am – 12pm. We will also do video streaming of the event to our web site www.Radio2000.co.za for listeners across the country to view the event. We see this as creating true public value as SABC Radio.”
