Venter, who walked away as the winner of the Investigative Journalism category and with the SA Story of the Year Award, was honoured for her investigation into the Life Esidimeni situation. She explained why the story was so special for her.
Masondo, who won the Journalist of the Year Award, was honoured for his investigation into water problems in South Africa with his story Watergate. He explained what it takes to be a great investigate journalist.
